Volkswagen has always cared about the environment and the sport of auto racing, so it is only fitting that they have created the FIRST and ONLY green racing series. This new series is an extension of the Jetta cup held in previous years with the addition of the TDI, it is now a green series. Discovery and Planet Green will be showing documentary on this revelutionary series in January.
TDI has been around for about a decade now, and the latest versions from VW and Audi are not only the cleanest running, they are the show that green and clean does not have to mean no power. While every car in the TDI cup runs on clean diesel, Audi has be successful over the last 3 years running a diesel at Le Mans and in the American Le Mans series. As we move towards a cleaner planet, it is efforts like these that will not only benefit the planet, but show that we can still enjoy motor-sports like we have for generations.
Even if you are not a motor-sports (and VW) fan like me, you should check it out as it not just about the sport, it is about how racing with clean fuels is possible and how this series helps young drivers break into motor-sports.
