The iPhone4, this changes everything.. I do not believe that Apple nor AT&T had lawsuits in mind when they created that slogan. What was believed to be an ingenious way to connect an antenna is backfiring all the way to court.
Since its release the iPhone4 has been noted for having poor reception and has caused large numbers of users to complain. While this has been acknowledged by Apple, their answer of "Your Holding Wrong" have not been received well, especially by some owners in Maryland who have filed a class action against Apple and AT&T.
According to the reports and the suit, the ingenious and creative use of the metal band around the phone as an antenna (liked the idea, but questioned reception even before the reports) causes loss of reception when held a certain way. However, that certain way appears to be floating in the air as gripping the phone the band causes the loss in reception. The first round of group complaints has come from a Left Handed club citing that the iPhone4 was anti left hand in design. Then a report that a California law firm was preparing a class action suit against Apple and AT&T, now we have an actual suit filed by a Maryland law firm charging Apple and AT&T with negligence in design and operation of the phone.
While other phones are noted to have reception problems when gripped in an incorrect fashion, none have received the number of the complaints and none as public. Adding the answer "Your Holding Wrong" from Apple only increases the matter to the level it has become.
As with most releases, the iPhone4 has received the hype that it is the next and the greatest, with that faithful followers and new comers have seen it as such. With the release of the iPad and the iPhone4, Apple was on a roll climbing higher and higher, but the reception issue and the law suits stands to tarnish their reputation for great products.
